Tiaira and Kelvin first crossed paths in the spring of 2009 while working at a local call center conducting telephone surveys—yes, they were those people interrupting your dinner to ask about your car insurance satisfaction. Despite the less-than-romantic setting, a distant friendship formed as two high schoolers navigated their first jobs and big dreams.

Life carried them in different directions—Tiaira headed to Loyola University Maryland to pursue her studies, and Kelvin to Norwich University, eventually commissioning as a Naval Officer. She soared in the world of corporate tech, and he in national service. Though they were miles apart and busy building lives of their own, they stayed connected through mutual friends, a few likes on social media, and the quiet familiarity of someone who just knew you back when.

Then came 2021. In the midst of a post-COVID world, they reconnected—and everything changed. What began as casual check-ins soon turned into late-night phone calls, video dates, and deep conversations that made distance feel small. Their connection only grew stronger with time, and it wasn’t long before they took their first trip together to Jamaica, diving headfirst into a shared love of adventure.

Four years, six countries, eighteen states, two houses, two dogs, and a boat later, their love is still unfolding—rich with laughter, loyalty, and partnership. Now, they’re thrilled to write the next chapter of their story—together.
